One thing in particular stood out from Rick's comments: "an omnipotent being cannot suffer, else it is not omnipotent."

I don't agree with that statement. Omnipotency is refers to the amount of power one has. My dictionary defines it as: complete, unlimited power; almighty; having very great authority.

What, in that definition indicates that an omnipotent being does not, and cannot suffer? If you were king of the world, you would still suffer if someone kicked you in the shin.

Even being omniscient ("having complete or infinite knowledge") would not mean that you wouldn't suffer. It would only mean that you understood completely the why and how of the pain.

Omniscience and omnipotence do not mean that you are emotionless, and therefore cannot suffer.

Thanks for your thoughts, Rick. I see you've commented on a number of Soul Chat videos and blogs. That suggests you have a passion about questions of faith, eternal life, etc.

Do I - or any other Christian, for that matter - have the answers to all your concerns? Absolutely not. I certainly have my own questions, Rick, and figure some of them won't be answered in this life. But that's okay; if I understood everything, that would make me God and no one on this planet is equipped for that responsibility.

But I can tell you this with confidence: the gift of free will was, and still is, God's absolute commitment to humanity. Even when we start wars, blow up skyscrapers and kill in his name. Think about the enormity of that gift, Rick, and the fact that God's commitment to it doesn't change. And when we do those awful things, God provides a way to receive forgivness, turn our lives around and become better people. That way was, is, and always will be Jesus.

This video again proves nothing in relation to the existence of the Christian god or his boy, Jesus. If we did not have this cell in our body we would not exist and would not be here to wonder about it, and that is all, nothing magical, nothing divine, that is just life as evolution caused it to become. That people are so desperate that they can see two intersecting lines as proving that god and Jesus are in the details is completely asinine. There are numerous examples of two intersecting lines vaguely forming a cross shape, do religionists accept all these as a sign from god? It only proves how desperate believers are to substantiate their dubious faith.
This could also mean that right from the beginning it was part of god's plan to have his son murdered by humans in order that he could forgive them, which implies that the introduction of evil into the world was also part of his Divine Plan before he even created humanity.Should we accept the idea that murdering your own son is worthy of respect and belief, for that is what Christians believe? If Jesus had not died, Christians would have nothing to worship and no religion; why are they therefore always whining about Jesus' death? God wanted it that way!
In any event, an omnipotent being cannot suffer, else it is not omnipotent. As with all religious belief, this is nonsensensical and contrary to reason.
One statement by Giglio in this video neatly sums up the reason for Christian faith, the belief that they will somehow live for eternity! The fear of dying and the refusal to accept the finality of death is what is at the centre of Christian faith; fear, not love, and it is therefore useless. Fact is, no one is getting out of this life alive.

Wow .. what is there to say. What an amazing God we serve. He truly has put His signature in all of mankind. We are fearfully and wonderfully made!
